Node/Backbone Hacknight — March 12th 2012

Hacknight!

A few of us have been talking about some new technologies in the web world so I (Daryl) decided to pick a couple of technologies and start the learnin'!

For this event I've suggested Node and Backbone as the two technologies to mess around with. I propose that we work in teams of two, with one person taking the node side of things and the other taking the backbone part. The Node people can collaborate with each other (but write their own code) and the backbone people can do the same.

A simple app is probably best to start with.I was thinking a chat app or maybe a simple twitter feed but am open to suggestions. Comment below.

Please come prepared with the following:

  • Some sort of development setup/IDE
  • Node installed on your laptop. Install here
  • Having familiarized yourself with what backbone does and looked at some of the examples

Location:the co+Lab at #204 - 1405 St Paul St. We'll code away for a few hours at least.
