The anticipation and the excitement in the room was intense on Tuesday May 24, 2010 at OKDG's re-birth into the Okanagan tech community. With 40+ attendees crowding the room far beyond capacity, all were primed for the two speakers to follow.
First off, OKDG leadership—Dustin Senos, Derrick Pelletier, and Shane Austin set the tone by describing the organization: it’s goals, objective and purpose, as well as details on it’s past, present, and future.
Also, and very importantly, the OKDG team announced the unveiling of the the OKDG.org website. The highlights of the new website include a news feed, members section, and events that can be RSVP’ed. It was built lovingly on top of CodeIgniter, HTML and many caffeinated (non for Dustin) beverages.
With the stage set, our honoured speakers were up:
Aaron De Simone presented on "User Experience + Delight" and Lance Priebe presented on "Perception vs Reality". We will be posting the video of the entire night once we have it edited together.
The night was a huge success and we'd like to thank the following people for making it rock:
Once again, thanks to everyone for coming out and taking part. The strength of conversation between the presentations and the open forum you’ve created made the attendance worthwhile alone.
We look forward to seeing you at the next event.
