We're planning a way to funnel the energy and talent at OKDG meetups into something more tangible. Taking the approach of "getting things done" we figured what better way than to have a night dedicated to what we do best: designing and building kick-ass products.
A night with no scheduled presentations or preplanned objectives. A night where your significant other won't understand your excitement to attend. A night where you can talk with unrepressed emotions about ICC profiles, typography, GCC, and NoSQL.
The recipe for #hacknight goes something like this: show up late afternoon (3pm-ish) with food to BBQ (maybe a dish to share?), your drink of choice, and your medium (laptop, sketchpad, ideas).
After we're done eating, there'll be an allotment of time dedicated to "pitches". Your pitch (if you'd like to pitch) is for you to share a cool idea, or project you think people will want to help out with. After the pitches are done, you choose what you'd like to work on and begin coding, designing, brainstorming, etc with the other people on that project.
Later in the evening (12pm - 1am) there'll be a show and tell where groups demo what they've been working on. Think of it as an evening summer camp for nerd adults with beer (we all loved summer camp).
The goal of the evening is to create an environment for people to learn, build projects, meet people, and drink some beverages.
Feel free to follow the progress of the event through @OKDG (we'll be using the hashtag #hacknight) and send any comments, questions, or suggestions our way. We'll send out an email to all members on okdg.org when the date and details are finalized.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
