Branding and CouchDB — May 3rd 2011

Being the Brand by Richard Taylor

Few of us live, work and play in a box. As we go about our daily lives, interacting with others, we are building a personal brand. If you use the social web you are taking that personal brand worldwide.

But what does that mean? Why is it important? How do you control it?

This presentation explores the growing concept of personal branding, makes you think about who you are, how you are perceived & what you stand for and offers some practical tips on "Being the Brand".

Dipping in to CouchDB by Nathan Howell

CouchDB is a database made of the web. It's a JSON-storin’, webapp hostin’, HTTP-talkin’, data-replicatin’, map-reducin’ machine. It's worth considering for many kinds of applications, including, or maybe especially, mobile.

The Evening

First and foremost, we at OKDG HQ would like to give all attendees at the last meetup a virtual standing ovation — much respect!

Our next order of business is proudly announcing the next big event on the evening of April the 26th, 2011. Come meet and mingle with all of your fave local geek and nerdy friends — you will not be disappointed.

The Bike Shop Cafe and Catering Co. has warmly welcomed us back to use their restaurant as a meeting venue. There will be food and your ‘beverages of your choice’ available throughout the evening.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Shane and Daryl

Please note the doors open at at 7:30pm and presentations will start at 8:00pm sharp. Please do not show up too early before 7:30pm as we are setting up the room and dealing with facilities.
